All Home Health Aides
Monthly training allows care staff to ask valuable questions pertaining to care services. We feel that knowledgeable staff provide exceptional care and comfort to families.
KHOBCARE is a licensed organization that hires caregivers and sends them to your loved one's residence to provide care. They may provide either medical or non-medical care. Medical care is provided by professionals, such as nurses or nursing assistants. Personal care and custodial care, also known as non-medical care, refer to assistance with activities of daily living, including preparing meals, eating, and bathing.
Now a question we get all the time is whats the benefits of working with an agency as opposed to hiring independently?
1. (Reliability) There is one important difference between these two options: when a family uses a home care agency and decides they are dissatisfied with the quality of care they are receiving, they can request a new caregiver from the same agency. Contrary to this, families that hire an independent caregiver and are dissatisfied with the quality of care they receive must hire, train, and find another caregiver. Families battle with reliable staffing currently and this has become a global concern with all healthcare facilities. We want to provide a sense of relief,
2. (Insured/Bonded) A private employee who does not work for an agency is not covered by Workers' Compensation insurance nor are they bonded. Employees are required to have Workers' Compensation insurance, but private employers seldom provide it. Without it, what are the risks? Often, home health workers help patients get up from bed or go to the restroom by lifting them or helping them. Workers' Compensation can be applied for by the caregiver who is injured and cannot work. It may seem unlikely that your caregiver will file a Workers' Compensation claim, but it may happen without your knowledge. If the caregiver goes to the hospital, a standard question always asked is, “Were you hurt at work?” Your caregiver may reply innocuously, yes, not realizing that answering the question in such a way will trigger the insurance company to pass the claim to your employer for payment.
3. (Taxes/Deductions) There is a false perception that hiring an independent caregiver is somehow illegal. This is not the case. However, paying an independent caregiver under the table is illegal. Families used to have the option of hiring the caregiver as an independent contractor (and therefore, the family would not be responsible for payroll taxes, withholdings, etc.). However, this is no longer an option for families, as the IRS has recently ruled that caregivers must be classified as employees, not independent contractors.
These are just a few of the reasons why working with a professional agency can be of benefit. We offer an amazing program to help you with your hiring needs if you still wish to hire independently. Please contact our office if you wish to hire independently. Specifically, this would involve all the steps and incentives of being with an Agency but hiring at a significantly lower price.
